The Fourth Annual Covered Bridge Bike Classic will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2009. The start and finish will be in the picturesque community of Snelling, California. Riders will be given the options of a Century Route, Metric Century and a Ten Mile Loop.

Century Riders will skirt the Sierra foothills and reach a maximum elevation of nearly 1300 feet in Mariposa County. Riders will enter Tuolumne County and cross the Lake Don Pedro Dam after which they will make their descent back to Snelling where they will pick up the Metric Route.

Metric Riders will enjoy green rolling hills and many flat stretches throughout eastern Merced and Stanislaus Counties. They will take in the springtime landscape of pastureland, orchards, vineyards and other farmland. Participants will also take in the beauty of Turlock Lake. Riders may also experience the thrill of seeing various forms of wildlife that thrive in the peaceful environment of this area.

Both the Century and Metric Rides will cross the historic Robert's Ferry Covered Bridge and will enjoy a full service rest stop at the Robert's Ferry School.

All riders, regardless of route choice, will be fully supported with a pre-ride breakfast, food and beverages along the way and a delicious post ride barbeque. The staff at stationary SAG stations and Roving SAG wagons will provide support as needed. Medical personnel will be on hand in case a rider needs medical attention. The Century Route is supported with five stationary SAG areas and the Metric Route has four.

Cyclists riding the ten mile loop will go out five miles from Snelling and back. These riders will be monitored by roving SAG wagons.

All participants will receive a goody bag and commemorative patch at the conclusion of the ride. T-shirts will also be available for purchase. Music will be provided in the afternoon in Snelling and extra barbeque tickets will be available for purchase.

This is a rain or shine event! All proceeds benefit Healing Nations work with at-risk children and youth in West Modesto. Thank-you for your participation!
